Southwest Virginia Community College
The Associates of Science in Pre-Medical serves recent high school graduates, as well as working adults who seek to make a career change. Whether you're interested in medicine, pharmacy, optometry, dentistry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or another health care specialty, our science associate's degree with pre-medical specialization provides 60 high-quality credits that transfer to any public four-year school in Virginia.
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the science pre-med program students: 1. Will identify and apply the steps of the scientific method and critically examine information and data to draw conclusions based on data (Bio 101, Bio 102, Chm 111, Chm 112) 2. Demonstrate the knowledge of the physiological and biochemical processes of the body (Bio 141 and Bio142) 3. Demonstrate soft skills appropriate to medical professional readiness (SDV 101) 4. Know career opportunities available in the medical field and associated fields based on the pre-med curriculum (SDV 101)
