|---|---|
| Considerations for Selecting Degree | The Advanced Standing (LPN to RN) applicant must meet the same admission requirements listed under Admission Requirements for All Nursing Applicants. The LPN to RN applicant must demonstrate application of knowledge of basic nursing concepts through performance on a standardized nursing achievement test. Applicant is responsible for the cost of the tests. Successful completion of the achievement test does NOT guarantee admission into the 200 level nursing program courses. |
| Considerations When Selecting Courses |
Students planning to apply to the Registered Nursing program should take SDV 101, ENG 111, PSY 230, BIO 141, and a Humanities elective as their first five classes. While waiting to be admitted to the nursing program, students are encouraged to work towards completing the General Studies: Pre-BSN degree. Once admitted to the nursing program, students must take the nursing courses in sequence. Nursing students will be administratively enrolled in their courses each semester.
|
| Program Requirements Beyond Specific Courses | The nursing program has a competitive application process. Students planning to apply to the Registered Nursing program should take SDV 101, ENG 111, PSY 230, BIO 141, and a Humanities elective as their first five classes. Applicants are expected to have earned a C" or better in all courses attempted in their first five prerequisite courses or equivalent courses. Nursing students must earn at least a "C" in the NSG major courses to remain in the program. The minimum passing grade is 80 (C) in the nursing program." |
