The Certificate in HVAC is designed to train individuals in basics of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technology. Demands for trained, certified personnel to serve a variety of industries and businesses who sell, service, and maintain modern heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment are very much in evidence. Persons completing this course of study should be able to enter the workforce as an entry level Maintenance Technician.

Outcomes

1. Identify the components of HVAC systems and know what their function is, safely perform basic operations related to HVAC. 2. Troubleshoot electrical/electronic systems, use test meters safely and use hand tools correctly. 3. Obtain EPA certifications to safely troubleshoot, repair and maintain HVAC/R refrigerant systems. 4. Demonstrate correct procedure for the installation of HVAC/R systems in accordance with Virginia Mechanical Code, National Electrical Code and EPA regulations.
