PSC102: Everyday Physics

Everyday Physics is an introductory course for non-science majors, which emphasizes the application of basic physical concepts to explain everyday phenomena. Topics include mechanics, heat, fluids, waves, electricity, magnetism, and radiation. The operations of Frisbees, roller coasters, airplanes, rockets, air conditioners, wood stoves, incandescent and fluorescent lamps, magnetically levitated trains, radios and televisions, microwaves, optical recording devices, and more will be explained using these principles. Lecture: 3 hours; Lab: 2 hours.
