BIOL220: Intro to Org, Eco, Evol

Course is designed for potential biology majors. Lectures explore the diversity of organisms, their interactions with each other and the environment, and the evolutionary processes that produce diversity. Topics include Mendelian genetics, major taxonomic groups, ecology, and evolution. Presupposes strong background in high school biology. (This course is anchored in the NQR domain, and also considers aspects of the ALV and CSI domains.) Students who plan to major or minor in biology or to take upper division biology courses must also take the associated lab course (BIOL221 or BIOL 298), unless they received an AP5 in biology or an equivalent exemption. Three class hours.
