Associate of Science Degree in Science: Biotechnology

The A.S of Science: Biotechnology degree will prepare you to enter the work force in a wide variety of jobs. These include becoming a Research Technician in a laboratory, Environmental Health and Safety Technician, or Forensic Scientist. You will also be ready to transfer to one of the many 4-year schools in Virginia and begin working in a research lab. Virginia Western Community College's service region includes the cities of Roanoke and Salem, along with Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. Virginia Western was the first college established in the VCCS, in 1966, and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of more than 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track career training and continuing education courses.
